Welcome to earlyvoting.net, the online home of the Early Voting Information Center (EVIC). EVIC, located at Reed College in Portland, Ore., is dedicated to the study of early and convenience voting trends in the United States and abroad.
We have recently published work in a number of peer-reviewed journals and provide academic consulting services to the Pew Charitable Trusts' Make Voting Work initiative. EVIC is also an affilate of the Election Updates blog at Caltech.

Conny McCormack, a consultant to the Make Voting Work project with many years of experience in the election field, examines the transition from touch screens to optical scan ballots in Florida's early voting systems in a new report. She warns that the new ballot-on-demand technologies, coupled with high interest in the 2008 election, could lead to significant delays for early voters this year.
Make Voting Work, a project of The Pew Center on the States and the JEHT Foundation, has announced up to $400,000 in new funding opportunities for research examining alternatives to precinct-based election day voting. See Pew's site for details, including the full RFP. Proposals are due August 15th.
